Ex-Xandria singer (and wife of bassist Nils) Lisa Middelhauve posted this clip on her Facebook yesterday:

People who've seen Xandria live recently may recognise it. The album's new direction has quite an Old Nightwish/Pythia sound if you ask me. Manuela Kraller is the new lead vocalist, replacing Kerstin Bischof who left the band after only a year.

The Crow, The Owl and The Dove

It seems it has been revealed on German EMP that the next Nightwish single - The Crow, The Owl and The Dove - will feature their long-awaited version of The Heart Asks Pleasure First as a bonus track. The Heart... was written by composer Michael Nyman as part of the soundtrack for The Piano. There were rumours that he didn't like the band's version, but whether or not this is true it seems he has given permission for it to be released. Excellent news!

The single is available for pre-order from EMP UK right now, in maxi-CD and vinyl formats. It is likely that it will soon be available from other online stores too.

New Epica Album Title Revealed

Xandria Album Title and Cover Revealed

The album will be called 'Neverworld's End' and is their first with new singer Manuela Kraller. Judging by the few tracks I heard live at Out of the Dark, this album is one to watch! The artwork is pretty stunning too, don't you think?

Neverworld's End is due to be released in February, 2012.

In an interview with Terrorizer today, Sharon revealed that the band are working on a movie of The Unforgiving, after the success of their 3 short films. They are also working on a new album, which could be released as early as the beginning of next year.

Epica in the Studio

Epica are in the process of recording the vocals for their next album. It is due to be released on the 9th of March, 2012.

First Batch of Nightwish European Tour Dates Released

More tour dates are supposed to be released on the 24th October, since there are many countries missing from this list (including the UK).

Other news:

Robert Westerholt has stepped down from touring live shows with Within Temptation in order to look after his 3 children with Sharon Den Adel. He will still play on the albums and be involved in songwriting and other aspects.

Stream of Passion will now be supporting Leaves' Eyes on their UK dates, replacing Visions of Atlantis.

Epica have been posting updates from the studio while recording their new album. They also recently took part in a photoshoot with symphonic metal's favourite photographer, Heile. Read more on their Facebook.

Also, the US release date has been announced as January 12th 2012. However, those living in the States will probably be able to get the album earlier if they import it from sites such as Nightwish's own or Amazon.com

The album is now available for pre-order on the new Nightwish shop! Since their shop crashed from high demand earlier this week, they have set up a new shop exclusively for pre-orders of CDs and new t-shirts. And it appears to have better shipping costs than the last one. ;)

The new Nightwish single will be released on 11.11.11. You can preorder it from the Nightwish Shop, though the shipping is quite a lot for a single, so it might be worth waiting for it to be available in your country.

You can also see some brand new t-shirts and hoodies on the shop, featuring some beautiful art and what might be song titles/lyrics...

In other news:

- The winning answer to the 'Tarja or Anette' poll was .... BOTH! Great to hear it ;)

- Epica will be entering the studio on Wednesday to begin recording their next album, the follow-up to 2009's Design Your Universe. They have also announced that they will be going on a world tour to promote the album. You can vote for support bands you'd like to see on their Facebook.

- Leaves' Eyes have reportedly cancelled their gig in High Wycombe, UK.

- Pythia are releasing a special box set of their album Beneath the Veiled Embrace. It is limited to 100 copies and features all sorts of goodies. Check it out here.

- Napalm Records have removed the majority of their catalogue from Spotify and other streaming services. This affects many symphonic and similar bands, including Tristania, Leaves' Eyes, Visions of Atlantis and Edenbridge.

The release date for the new Nightwish album has been confirmed as the 13th January 2012.

The band have also released a short teaser trailer, consisting of old concert footage with the remix of Track 11 from Imaginarium.
