Within Temptation and Evanescence Tour Adds New Shows


Following the huge success of the upcoming Evanescence and Within Temptation tour Worlds Collide with several shows already sold out, more dates have been added. The new concerts announced include 3 more in the UK.

The dates are as follows:

April 24th - Belgium - Brussels Palais 12
April 26th - Luxembourg - Rockhall Mainhall
April 28th - Scotland - Glasgow SSE Hydro
April 30th - UK - Leeds First Direct Arena
May 1st - UK - Birmingham Arena

The Belgium and Luxembourg tickets go on sale Thursday October 31, 10:00 a.m. CET. UK tickets go on sale Friday November 1, 10:00 a.m. GMT.

Nightwish Announce Tour Dates For UK and Europe


Nightwish have announced a string of dates across Europe - including 2 in the UK - for 2020. Their long awaited next album is due to be released earlier in the year and set to be showcased on this tour. Finnish industrial band Turmion Kätilöt will be joining them.

Nightwish Announce "Decades - Live In Buenos Aires" Blu-Ray/CD


Nightwish have announced that their "Best Of" Decades tour will be coming to blu-ray, with a show recorded live in Buenos Aires. Fans will get to hear Floor Jansen's take on a number of classic and newer songs from the band's back catalogue. There will be multiple formats available, including blu-ray and CD, an Earbook that combines both, digital and vinyl.

Leaves' Eyes and Sirenia To Headline Female Metal Voices Tour

Within Temptation and Evanescence Announce Joint UK/Europe Tour


After teasing us earlier this week, Within Temptation and Evanescence have finally announced a long-awaited collaboration in the form of a joint headline tour. The arena shows will take place in April 2020, across several countries in Europe and one show in the UK.

News Round-Up: Epica, WT, Dimmu Borgir, Tarja and more


It's that time of year when a lot happens at once! Here is some of this week's news:


- Epica have announced some North American dates for the Design Your Universe 10th anniversary tour, following the recent announcement of the special gold edition re-release. The shows will take place in Montreal, LA and New York. You can find info and tickets here. The band also released a new lyric video for the epic song Kingdom of Heaven, which you can view below.


- Within Temptation pulled out of Byblos festival in Lebanon in solidarity with local band Mashrou' Leila, who were removed from the bill following threats of violence from religious groups. They also expressed concerns for bands' safety and security at the festival. You can read more here.


- Dimmu Borgir have announced a European tour with support from Amorphis and Wolves in the Throne Room. The tour includes a show in London on January 22nd. Info and tickets can be found here.

- Tarja released a new music video this week for the Blade Runner inspired song Tears In Rain. The video sees her taking up roller derby - check it out in the player below.

- Visions of Atlantis also have a new video out: this time for the song A Journey To Remember from upcoming album Wanderers.

 - Fantasy-themed power metallers Seven Kingdoms have opened a Kickstarter for their upcoming EP Empty Eyes after making the decision to distribute their own music. With a month to go the target is very nearly reached and stretch goals will fund further music videos. Check it out here.

News Round-Up: Epica, Nightwish, Tarja, The Dark Element, Lacuna Coil


I think it's time for a new style of news round-up - one that's quicker to read and quicker to type, since I have a baby to look after and a new series of books to write! So here is a bunch of the latest news, in bite size format... 

- Epica have announced a special gold edition of Design Your Universe. The new 2 disc edition is remixed and remastered with new gold cover art, and includes a CD of acoustic versions. It is due for release on 4th October.

Nightwish have begun working on their 9th studio album at their usual summer camp, set to be released during spring 2020. This follows news that Kai Hahto will replace Jukka Nevalainen permanently as drummer of the band.

- Tarja is set to support Evanescence as a special guest at their show in Trnava, Slovakia.

- Anette Olzon's new band The Dark Element have completed their second album, due for release in November.

- Lacuna Coil have revealed the album cover for their new album Black Anima (see below). The first video has been released for the single Layers of Time: check it out in the player. The band have also announced a special show at the London Dungeons.


Delain Announce UK Tour Dates and Departure of Merel Bechtold


Mixed news this week for Delain fans as following the band's appearance at Download Festival they have announced four new UK dates in 2020, but also the departure of guitarist Merel Bechtold.

Merel will be departing the band after Graspop Festival, apparently on good terms as she has decided to focus on different musical ambitions. Merel is also a member of MaYaN. You can read the full statements here.

As for the headline tour, the band will be bringing a setlist featuring their upcoming record as well as the latest EP. Here are the dates:

Lacuna Coil and Eluveitie Announce Joint UK/EU Tour


Lacuna Coil have announced a new headline tour for the autumn alongside Eluveitie, with support from Infected Rain. They will be headlining the first leg of the tour for dates across Italy, the UK and Ireland, while swapping the top billing for the rest of Europe.

Re-Release For Nightwish's End Of An Era


Nightwish's classic 2005 live show End of an Era is getting a re-release in a special edition. The show concluded the Once tour with original lead singer Tarja Turunen famously being fired by open letter shortly afterwards. There are multiple formats of the new version including:

Ayreon Announce Special Into The Electric Castle Shows


The 20th anniversary of Ayreon's classic album Into The Electric Castle will be celebrated with four special shows in the Netherlands in 2019. The shows will take place at the 013 Poppodium in Tilburg on the 13th, 14th and two shows on the 15th of September. It will feature most of the original cast of the album - plus a ton of special guests from the world of Dutch metal - performing the record in full.

Anneke Van Giersbergen is releasing a live CD of her orchestral performance with the Residentie Orkest of the Hague. Titled Symphonized, it features 11 tracks taken from throughout her back catalogue.

Sirenia Announce New Album And Tour


Sirenia have announced that their upcoming album will be titled Arcane Astral Aeons. The album has already been crowdfunding on Pledgemusic, with CDs and vinyl available as well as other signed items and prizes. The new artwork has been revealed (see above) and it will be released on October 26th 2018 via Napalm Records.

A string of European tour dates in support of the album have also been announced, with special guests Triosphere and other supports TBC. The dates are as follows:

Evanescence To Release "Synthesis Live" DVD


Last year Evanescence released their Synthesis album - which contained two new songs as well as re-imagining their past hits with electronic and orchestral elements. The band took the show on tour with an orchestra, and today announced that there will be a live release. Synthesis Live was filmed on November 3, 2017 at the Grand Theater at Foxwoods Casino in CT, USA.  

The release comes in several different formats:

Within Temptation Add Southampton Date To UK Tour


Due to popular demand, Within Temptation's UK tour in November has had an extra date added. The band will appear at Southampton O2 Guildhall on 14th November, following sold out out dates in Birmingham and Manchester. Glasgow and London still have tickets available.

The ticket pre-sale starts tomorrow morning (August 1st) at 10am, with regular tickets officially going on sale this Friday August 3rd at 10 am from this link.

The band's album is due later this year, and a leaked track named Raise has already been circulating alongside clips from behind the scenes of a new music video. So we should be hearing more from WT very soon!

Lacuna Coil Announce DVD of 119 Show


Lacuna Coil have announced that their anniversary show from January will be released on DVD. The spectacular London show featured many of the band's hits from throughout their career, alongside performances from circus acts.

The 119 Show will be released on CD, DVD and Blu-Ray on November 9th 2018.

I'm back from my holiday so here's some of the top news highlights from the past couple of weeks...


EPICA: WORLD RELEASE FOR ATTACK ON TITAN EP


Many fans were excited at the prospect of Epica's EP covering songs from popular anime Attack On Titan, a show that had been praised for its epic music. Until now, the EP was unfortunately only released in Japan, although the songs could be heard on YouTube. Now the band's label Nuclear Blast have announced that the EP will be available worldwide from July 20th.

TARJA ANNOUNCES NEW LIVE DVD


Tarja is back with a new live DVD for us, a follow-up to Act I which came out in 2012. Act II was recorded at an intimate show in Metropolis Studio in London, UK, and a regular show at Teatro della Luna in Milan, Italy. Many songs from her latest album The Shadow Self are included as well as hits from throughout her career (including a couple of Nightwish classics).

Act II will be released on July 27th, 2018 on earMUSIC as 2CD digipak, 3LP Gatefold (180g, black), DVD, Blu-ray, Limited Mediabook 2CD+2BD (incl. two full live shows filmed at Woodstock Festival in Poland and Hellfest in France as bonus) and Digital formats. You can pre-order it here.

EX LIBRIS CROWDFUNDING FOR NEW ALBUM

Ex Libris, the main band of ex-Xandria vocalist Dianne Van Giersbergen, have announced a crowdfunding project for their next album. The album will be released in three parts, with the first chapter "Anne Boleyn" being available as a reward for backers. Each part will tell the story of a different woman from history (presumably all named Ann).

The band need to raise €25,000. There are many perks available including CDs, signed merch, Skype sessions with the band and more.You can find the crowdfunding page here.
