Review: Epica - The Quantum Enigma

My review of Epica's The Quantum Enigma is now up over at Muses of Metal!

The album is out now from Nuclear Blast. The blog has been packed with Epica stuff lately - in case you've missed it, here's some of the other posts:

You guys also voted TQE your most anticipated upcoming album a few months ago, and the results of the sidebar poll for favourite Epica album will be in soon.

This was my most anticipated upcoming album, and it lives up to my expectations. I don't know if it will be my best album of the year, but that's only because Casualties of Cool with Devin Townsend exceeded all my expectations and Opeth's Pale Communion is looming on the horizon.

I agree with the lyrics being a bit heavy-handed. I think it's probably more noticeable because there's fewer lyrics written by Simone.

Great review as always, and I hope to see an announcement about your book soon.

Glad you liked the review! Good point about Devin and Opeth's albums, I will definitely check them out. They're not on my radar as much as symphonic metal but I do enjoy them. And yeah, I find I prefer Simone's lyrics to Marks, but it's nice to have the balance of both.
